On the Road....
Were in Portland, it's an hour till stage time, I'm writing this from our hotel room at the Doug Fir, G has driven like a demon to get us here (He loves to drive) I've been time lapsing out the window and Edd's been holding court from the back of the minivan, he is the Oracle of knowledge.
So far this has been the adventure we hoped it would, just three of us driving ourselves across the USA, every five minutes we see stuff that makes us want to pull over, scenes from movies we know and love like Stand By Me, huge endless roads and miles and miles of logging trains, but we can't because we have to get to the next sound check!
Tomorrow we will take our sweet time to get to San Francisco, we've canceled our hotel there so we can get a motel in the woods instead, we've decided to go the scenic route, we want to explore.
Gigs have been super friendly affairs so far, it's always a buzz to see such avid fans singing along to stuff not even released here, and as usual we are finding new ways to explore the music, Gale is ripping up pastures new and Edd is now the band, bass, percussion and vox and electronica, it's harder work but very rewarding....
Were feeling the jet lag now, it's a strange distant feeling but actually you can ride it, like being slightly drunk all day, everything's extra colorful and hilarious...
I hope our spirits stay upwards but for now were really enjoying it and it sems the peeps at the shows are too...
OK nearly stage time now,
bye bye x
Bank Holiday UK
So if you managed to get to this page, you might have realised there is a problem with the front page. And there is, in that it has disappeared. A technical error has occurred - something to do with the internet and computers and maybe a bank holiday. But don't worry it will be fixed and if you are looking for tickets to our USA or Ireland or festival shows you should either revisit soon or google it and carry on as normal, we still love and need you all. Apologies from us.
And also gratzie milli for coming to see us in Italy - it was an experience we are hoping to repeat soon .
No photo this time, blame the computers that enslave us all. x
Auf weidersein y Ciao
We sadly waved goodbye to Germany after another great crowd in Frankfurt. We felt the love in Germany , thank you all so much for coming out and supporting us. We hope to get back there whenever we can.
Shortly after the show we smashed our way through the ALps all the way to Milan. As soon as we walked into the venue
I remembered playing here years ago with Kings Of Convienence - a long time ago. So we were made up to see a probably bigger crowd turning up to see us.
As is usual these days all over europe at the weekend we had to break our gear down and pack it and get the hell out the venue before the Techo Hounds could snap at our heels . Luckily for us we get to do all this to the applause of fans waiting outside. It feels like we are being chased around the world by Techno DJs keen to smash our guitars with their tables of Technics.
Anyway , Tutti benne . Roma tonight .

EURO beginnings
We hit Berlin yesterday for a day off before tonights show. Of course we know a german minimalist techno DJ here who took us out to a smoky and( I mean smoky ) bar which reminded us how bars used to be back home , eyes blazing , clothes reeking - in the UK now you go outside to smoke but in Berlin you go outside to breath!! - it showed us how much we've adapted to the ban in the uk , maybe we're fragile old men underneath these muscular exteriors.
The Euro tour has kicked off to a good start , admittedly on the first night ( AMERSFOORT ) we were working out how to do it . When we mentioned how it was the first night ever as a four piece ( no keys this time ) someone shouted " so it can only get better !" and quite rightly so . Amsterdam was a sold out and bouncy crowd , and by then we were getting more sure of what it was we were going to do . Hamburg was a really good looking room full of lovely people .
Not so many food pictures I'm afraid as we have been a lot busier so far and have been enjoying mainly flat meat and cheese . The Swimming schedule is going swimmingly well , especially in Germany . I'm off to find a new hat in Berlin and heave some flight cases around. All the best . G
After Brighton
Brighton was our last show of this UK tour and it was extra special, we had most of the amazing Brighton based choir from the Theatre Royal show join us again for Future Boy and State of things, Pete Lawrie and his band also joined us for Underdog and the whole evening felt like a massive release, it was one of those hot sweaty nights where the air is filled with electricity, to look out into the crowd and see couples kissing, people crying and others beaming and singing along with all their hearts was mind blowing! We never expect such passionate reactions but on this tour we've had more than our fair share.
There are way to many highlights to start listing but whats been very interesting is how different every show felt, in the old days when we had a MASSIVE crew and entourage around us it sometimes seemed like Groundhog day but every show now seems to have it's own distinct identity which adds so much life to the whole touring experience.
Making the transition from buzz band filling large venues with relative ease to finding a new smaller and essential way forward is the ultimate test but I really feel it suits us and the fans of the music, we hope to be able to continue like this for a long time to come....
Anyway now we have to get back to work, getting ready for Europe and then the USA,
Until we see you all again thank you, you know who you are ;)

good lord!
Well well well ! there was no way we could have know just how loud the crowd in Glasgow was going to belast night !!! What an incredible night we had , it was made pretty easy for us to be honest ! More like that please .
Been wandering round all these uk towns in a whole new way . Its like touring used to be but better - we're smarter - faster - soberer-er - etc-er - We somehow have to try to keep it going forever. This entry is a bit vacuous as I got to get ready for tonights show and my brain is shrivelled still from too much fun in Glasgow. Did you know Nottingham used to be called Snottingham? - true .
Also, I include a picture of lunch in Glasgow in case you were wandering. Extremely yum yum. G
